Lesestoff für heute Abend

Mother, missing hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Nach den letzten zwei Büchern, die mir von Joyce Carol Oates nicht so sehr gefallen haben, hat mich dieses wieder gepackt. Vieles, das die Protagonistin in diesem Buch über die Trauer um ihre Mutter ausgesprochen hat, kannte ich von der Trauer um meine Großmutter. Wenn man so sieht, was eine Mutter/Großmutter im Laufe ihres Lebens so alles ansammelt - von Kleidern aus verschiedenen Jahrzehnten, bis zu alten Ansichtskarten und Briefen, jede Menge Zeitschriften, Nähzubehör usw. - und was dann einfach aussortiert und weggeschmissen wird. Jedenfalls war das ein wunderschönes Buch, und so wird ihr letztes Buch, "The Falls" bestimmt auch bald bei mir landen.
