So long Marianne

Gestern habe ich mein Städtebuch ausgelesen. Generell hat es mir sehr gut gefallen, aber ein paar Städte weniger hätten nicht geschadet. So hatte jede Stadt nur maximal 4 - 5 Seiten, viele Städte gerade mal 2 1/2 Seiten. Manche der Städte hätte ich gerne ausführlicher beschrieben gehabt. Trotzdem ein tolles Buch!

 

Abends habe ich dann mit der Liebesgeschichte zwischen Leonard Cohen und Marianne Ihlen begonnen - und auch dieses Buch gefällt mir sehr gut, es ist flüssig geschrieben und informativ. Marianne ist mit ihrem ersten Freund nach Griechenland gezogen - und hat auf der Reise prompt einen Blinddarmdurchbruch erlitten. Ich konnte ihr die Schmerzen so gut nachfühlen. Mal sehen, wann sie nun Leonard kennenlernt.

A Love Story

Am Freitag hat mir der nette Paketbote wieder ein Buch von Amazon gebracht - ich war schon von der Versandbestätigung überrascht, denn dieses Buch hatte ich auch schon vor Monaten bestellt. Wieder einmal ein modernes Märchen, auf das ich mich auch schon freue.

Städteprojekt im Jänner: The Great Cities in History

Mein Städteprojekt beginnt in diesem Jahr mit einer Reise rund um die ganze Welt und auch durch die Geschichte. In kurzen Essays werden Großstädte von Uruk, Theben und Hattusa bis New York, Sidney und Shanghai vorgestellt.

Englische Literatur

Nach dem Shakepeare, den ich gestern Abend ausgelesen habe und der mir auch wieder seht gut gefallen hat, beginne ich nun mit englischer Literatur. Zu "A Winter's Tale" wäre noch anzumerken, das es davon eine moderne Neuerzählung von Jeanette Winterson gibt, die ich im nächsten Monat für mein Shakespeare-Projekt lesen werde.

 

Mein neues Buch beinhaltet Vorlesungen, die Professor Jorge Luis Borges über englische Literatur gehalten hat. Wieder mein Lieblingsthema und ich freue mich schon sehr darauf.

Gestern hat der Paket-Postler meine erste Amazon-Lieferung im neuen Jahr gebracht. Amazon hat es geschafft, DREI (!) Bücher in einem Paket zu versenden. Eine neue Bestleistung! Das die zwei mitbestellten DVD's in zwei weiteren Packerln versendet wurden, ist ja völlig normal. Aber drei Bücher in einem Packerl - die müssen wen Neuen angestellt haben, der noch nicht weiß, das man das ja auch in drei kleinen Packerln versenden kann...

 

Gekommen sind zwei Bücher für mein Städteprojekt, und ein weiteres Fantasybuch. Das Buch über Großstädte in der Geschichte werde ich dann gleich im Jänner für mein Städteprojekt lesen.

A Winter's Tale - Shakespeare Projekt

Heute Vormittag habe ich "The Hanging Tree" ausgelesen. Es hat mir gefallen, aber mich doch nicht so überzeugt wie die anderen Bücher aus der Serie. Vielleicht war es auch nur um 100 Seiten zu lang.

 

Jedenfalls sollte das erste Buch im Jahr auch immer was Besonderes sein, und auf jeden Fall ein gutes Buch sein. Ich habe mich daher für William Shakespeare entschieden, "The Winter's Tale" passt auch gut zur Jahreszeit. Ich habe mich außerdem entschlossen, als zweites Leseprojekt in diesem Jahr William Shakespeare zu wählen. Vielleicht nicht in jedem Monat, aber zumindest jedes zweites. Bücher über Shakespeare habe ich ja ein paar vorrätig.
