Nach dem sehr kurzen Peter Grant-Roman von Ben Aaronovitch habe ich zu einem Buch über Jazz begonnen. In verschiedenen Essays schreibt Geoff Dyer über bekannte Jazzer, über ihre Musik und ihre Drogenexzesse, über Zweifel und Erfolg, über Ruhm und Abstieg. An sich gefällt mir das Buch sehr gut und ich bin auch schon fast wieder fertig - aber ich hätte gerne auch den Namen des porträtierten Musikers als Überschrift und auch ein Bild des vorgestellten Genies. Beschrieben werden Stationen aus dem Leben von: Lester Young, Thelonius Monk, Bud Powell, Charles Mingus, Ben Webster, Chet Baker, Art Pepper, Duke Ellington und Harry Carney.
