Das Weihnachtsbuch war ja schnell ausgelesen, es hatte kaum 50 Seiten. Daher habe ich mich gestern Abend dann für eine weitere Biographie entschieden, und zwar von dem großen "Jazz at the Philharmonic"-Veranstalter und z.B. Ella-Produzenten Norman Granz. Als Produzenten haben wir ihn schon lange gekannt, er hat immerhin alle Ella Fitzgerald-Songbooks betreut und natürlich auch viele andere Künstler. In diesem Sommer habe ich einige der von ihm veranstalteten und auch moderierten "JATP"-CD's gekauft, die uns sehr gefallen, auch wenn es oft Aufnahmen von Jam-Sessions sind.
Die Biographie gefällt mir ebensogut wie die Konzertmitschnitte und Norman Granz hat damals gegen die Diskriminierung von Afro-Amerikanern gekämpft, viele seiner Musiker waren Afro-Amerikaner. Er muss schon ein toller Mensch gewesen sein und ich bin neugierig, wie das Buch weitergeht.
